This is because of the pianist, Greta Erikson. She plays brilliantly throughout, whether making the Piano Concerto sound like a masterpiece, which her capable competitors cannot manage, or realizing the remarkably different moods of the well-selected solo piano pieces, or adding her brilliant pianism to the violin of Josef Grünfarb in the Duo, a major work. This is a great...recording. But running through all is Erikson's superb piano playing, making all of these works by Franz Berwald sound like great masterpieces.
