Zusatzinfo/Inhalt	Hier liegt das Gesamtwerk Richard Lanes für Orgel solo vor. Es ist keine Suite, sondern eine Anthologie von drei separaten Werken, geschrieben für unterschiedliche Anlässe. Die Stücke können aber auch kombiniert aufgeführt werden. Zum Beispiel Reflection und Recessional als Diptychon gepaart oder als Vor- und Nachspiel in einem Gottesdienst. Das längere Prelude (weltliche Hymne) sollte jedoch separat gespielt werden. ÜBER DAS WERK I. Prelude Richard Lane's Prelude (1965) ist eine längere Fantasie über die bekannte walisische Hymne Hyfrydol (Rowland Huw Prichard, 1844), die in unzähligen Lobgesangbüchern mit unterschiedlichen Texten vorkommt - meistens aus Charles Wesley's 'Love Divine, All Loves Excelling'. Lane behält den Geist von Weise und Text indem er seinem Stück eine festlich fröhlich Stimmung verleiht. Seine typische Schreibart ist harmonisch sehr erfindungsreich und führt durch verschiedene Tonarten. Im letzten Teil wird das Lied als vierstimmige Fuge behandelt, mit dem Einsatz am Schluss einer zusätzlichen fünften Stimme. II. Recessional Le Recessional de Richard Lane (1969) est une musique d'orgue du genre 'maestoso' des hymnes d'entrée ou de sortie des services religieux. Bien que l'idée mélodique du début soit plutôt conventionnelle, Lane commence tout de suite à se mouvoir librement et naturellement à travers une variété de zones harmoniques. Reflection J'ai commandé Reflection pour orgue durant l'été 1976 et je l'ai créée au printemps 1977 à Medford, New Jersey aux Etats-Unis. Richard Lane était un connaisseur de la musique française du XXe siècle et cette oeuvre témoigne de son affinité pour cette atmosphère, ces couleurs et effets sonores, et démontre son sens magistral des proportions classiques et du développement thématique. While each piece is quite effectively individually, if one did wish to combine them in performance, the Reflection and Recessional could be paired as a diptych, or as a prelude and postlude for a church service. In keeping with the spirit of tune and text, the Prelude explores a festive and joyous mood. In typical fashion, Lane's setting is very harmonically imaginative, taking the tune through a variety of key areas. In the final section, the tune is treated as a four voice fugue, with a final entrance of the tune in augmentation as a fifth voice. II. Recessional Richard Lane's Recessional (1969) is music in the familiar 'maestoso' genre of organ processionals/recessionals. Though the opening melodic idea is quite conventional for the genre, Lane immediately begins moving freely and naturally through a variety of harmonic areas. The result is a very skillfully built piece whose forward momentum is achieved not just rhythmically, but also harmonically. Carson Cooman, USA, 2014 III. Reflection I commissioned Reflection for organ during the summer of 1976 and premiered it in the spring of 1977 in Medford, New Jersey (USA). Richard Lane was fond of 20th Century French music, and the work reflects this affinity for the atmospheric and coloristic affects of that style, as well as a masterful sense of classical proportion and thematic development. Lane préserve l'esprit de l'air et du texte en créant une ambiance festive et joyeuse. La réalisation typique de Lane est harmoniquement très imaginative, passant à travers une variété de tonalités. Dans la partie terminale, l'air est traité comme une fugue à quatre voix, avec l'entrée finale d'une cinquième voix. II.
