Zusatzinfo/Inhalt	Instrumentation: Piano (4 hands) Hallelujah Shout (1999) for piano duet was written for and is dedicated to duo pianists Timothy and Nancy LeRoi Nickel. Part of the composer's heritage stems from Maine, where the family was an active participant in the evangelical camp meetings of New England. The music (often in gospel and revivalist styles) associated with these meetings is the primary influence for this work. Although there are no actual hymn tunes used in the work, the spirit of these types of hymns are explored. Traditional harmonies and cadences from this kind of music also appear in various forms and figurations, often becoming parts of repeated figurations and patterns. The intent is one of joyous celebration – with a little humor thrown in as well.
